THE RULES: The rules are very similar to the King of the Hill game that we start the season with. The differences are that we will be starting our contest with the games of week ten on the schedule and that we will extend the contest into the playoffs in an attempt to come up with a single winner. The entry fee will be the same at $50. There is a Thursday game in week 10 but that game CANNOT be used in KOTH 2. Note that we will track this pool on our Google Sheet as usual. As before, you have to pick one NFL game correctly each week. Just pick the winner.....you don't have to worry about the point spread. If you keep picking a winner each week of the regular season until nobody else is left in the pool, you win the entire pot. Once again, you are only allowed to use each team ONCE. That's right, only ONCE in the ENTIRE season for any team. In the unlikely event that multiple entrants pick perfectly for the entire regular season, the pool will be continued into the playoffs. NOTE THAT THERE IS NO RESET OF AVAILABLE TEAMS FOR THE PLAYOFFS. So, you must consider saving some of the better teams for the possibility of the pool going into the playoffs...or not..your decision. Warning: Picking in the playoffs is very tricky...don't forget that you will not only use up the team you pick each week but half of the other teams that might be available will be eliminated due to losing games. Even if you pick winners each week, you might not have a team available for the Super Bowl or even an earlier week. Normally, you are eliminated if you fail to pick a winner. The one exception is if all remaining entrants fail to pick a winner (or have no team available to pick) in a given week. In that situation, all entrants are given a reprieve and continue to pick to determine a single winner of the pool. Pool is only divided if the playoffs end without a single winner. Note that an entrant who didn't have a team available to use in the Super Bowl could conceivably tie with other entrants who picked the loser.Entrants and picks will be posted on a Google Sheet. Entries are $50, with a maximum of two entries per person. Your picks must be submitted by email to abhand@earthlink.net by 9 P.M. (PST) each Friday night (they have to be in by 9 P.M. Wednesday night before any Thursday game that you use, also). I will post everyone's picks by gametime on the weekend. Obviously, it would help me if you got the picks in early each week. IMPORTANT - If no pick is received, you will automatically be given the most heavily-favored team that you haven't used yet. Favorites will be determined by using the Friday lines published at this website: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/gaming/sheridan.htm . When an entrant has not submitted a pick for a week, I will go top to bottom at that website in determining the heaviest favorites if teams have the same odds in order to assign a pick for them. Obviously, if everyone submits their picks we will never have to worry about this situation (HINT, HINT!!!). Each week’s picks will normally be entered and displayed on the Google Sheet by 24 hours after the deadline or by 30 minutes before any Saturday game’s kickoffs. Any necessary default picks will be included at that time. You must do two things to enter...send me an email to abhand@earthlink.net to confirm that you are entering the pool by the entry deadline AND send me a check or make a Paypal or Venmo payment (hopefully, by Thanksgiving weekend) for your fee. The check should be sent to Bill Hand 38642 Maracaibo Circle East Palm Springs, CA 92264. You are encouraged to pay by Paypal or Venmo. My Paypal ID is my original email address shown above (abhand@earthlink.net). My Venmo ID is @Hand92264. If you use Paypal, don't forget to use the sending to friends or family option. As long as you are paying from your Paypal balance or associated bank account, you will not be charged a fee. Do not include the word "pool" or anything else in your Paypal or Venmo comments. I'll know what the payment is for.
